THE LAW OF GOD – The Seventh Commandment – Adultery

CONFESSION OF SIN [Based upon The Book of Common Worship, 1st order]
Most holy and merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess before You our sinful nature, prone to evil and slow in good, and all our shortcomings and offenses. You alone know how often we have sinned-- in wandering from Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in forgetting Your love. O Lord, have mercy on us. We are ashamed and sorry for everything in which we have displeased you. Teach us to hate our errors. Cleanse us from our secret faults, and forgive our sins for the sake of your dear Son. And O most holy and loving Father, help us, we ask You, to live in Your light and walk in Your ways, according to the commandments of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A: That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by His Holy Spirit He also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for Him.

THE LAW OF GOD – The Sixth Commandment – Murder

CONFESSION OF SIN [Adapted from the Book of Common Worship]
Almighty God, You are rich in mercy to all those who call upon You. Hear us as we come to You humbly confessing our sins and transgressions, and imploring Your mercy and forgiveness. We have broken Your holy laws by our deeds and by our words, and by the sinful affections of our hearts. We confess before You our disobedience and ingratitude, our pride and willfulness; and all our failures and shortcomings toward You and toward our fellow men. Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; And by Your great goodness grant that we may hereafter serve and please You in newness of life; through the merit and mediation of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

*CONFESSION OF FAITH The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE LAW OF GOD – The Fifth Commandment – Father and Mother

CONFESSION OF SIN [Based upon The Valley of Vision]
Eternal Father, You are good beyond all thought, but we are vile, wretched, miserable, blind; Our lips are ready to confess, but our hearts are slow to feel and our ways reluctant to amend. We bring our souls to you. Break them, wound them, bend them, mold them. Unmask to us sin's deformity, that we may hate it, abhor it, flee from it. Our abilities have been weapons of revolt against you; as rebels we have misused our strength, and served the foul adversary of your kingdom. Give us grace to bewail our senseless folly; Grant us to know that the way of transgression is hard; that evil paths are wretched paths; that to depart from you is to lose all good. We have seen the purity and beauty of your perfect law, the happiness of those in whose heart it reigns, the calm dignity of the walk to which it calls; yet daily we violate and condemn its precepts. All these sins we mourn, lament, and for them cry, "Pardon." Work in us more profound and abiding repentance; Give us the fullness of a godly grief which is ever powerful, and ever confident; Grant that our repentance will enable us to see more clearly the brightness and glory of the cross of Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.

DECLARATION OF PARDON [Psalm 103:12]
As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE LAW OF GOD – The Fourth Commandment – The Sabbath Day

CONFESSION OF SIN [Adapted from Matthew Henry]
We have sinned against you, O Lord, our Maker, our Defender, and our Redeemer. Our natures are corrupt and sinful; prone to fall away from you, sluggish to do good and swift to do evil. Vain thoughts have come upon us and found lodging within us, defiling and disquieting our minds, and keeping out good thoughts. We have burdened ourselves with that care which you have commanded us to cast upon you. We have failed in our duties one to another, and have provoked one another as much to folly and anger as to love and good works. We have been cold in our love to you, weak in our desires toward you, unsteady in our walking with you, and are even at this time poorly prepared to serve you. We beseech you--Forgive all our sins, for Christ’s sake, and be at peace with us in Him Who died to make peace and lives to make intercession for us. Amen.

DECLARATION OF PARDON [Ezekiel 36:27]
