THE LAW OF GOD – The Ninth Commandment

CONFESSION OF SIN [Based upon Romans 3]
Our great and glorious God, You who know and judge the secrets of every human heart; We do acknowledge and confess that we have followed our father Adam in revolting against your commandments. We have turned from your ways and from your blessed Presence, and have reaped the misery of turning away from You, the very Author of life. None of us is righteous, no not one; None of us has understanding, none of us seeks God; Our throats are opened graves; we use our tongues to deceive; Our mouths are full of cursing and bitterness; Our feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery are in our paths, and the way of peace we have not known; There is no fear of God before our eyes. We appeal to you, through your great mercy made manifest in Jesus Christ Your obedient Son, that you would forgive our sins for His sake; That you would make many righteous through His one act of obedience; That where our sin has increased, Your grace would abound. Just as Christ was raised from the dead by your glory, so also may we walk in newness of life. Amen.

DECLARATION OF PARDON [Isaiah 55:7]Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts;let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. THE LAW OF GOD – The Eighth Commandment

CONFESSION OF SIN [Composed by PCA Minister, Rev. Jeffrey White]
Lord Jesus Christ, though being in very nature God, when You came to redeem us You humbled Yourself and made Yourself nothing. Though You were rich, for our sakes You became poor, so that through Your poverty we might become rich. We confess how unlike You we are in our attitudes and actions. We strive for recognition and acclaim from others, and we sulk and become bitter if we do not get it. We look out for our own needs and concerns, failing to care for others except for when it serves our own purposes. Forgive us our sin and renew our hearts. Grant us to realize that we only achieve greatness and gain our lives by giving them away. Work in us by the power of Your Spirit so that we become more like You and so bring glory to our Father in heaven. Amen.

DECLARATION OF PARDON [Isaiah 1:18]
Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE LAW OF GOD – The Seventh Commandment

CONFESSION OF SIN [Based upon The Book of Common Worship, first order]
Most holy and merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess before You our sinful nature, prone to evil and slow in good, and all our shortcomings and offenses. You alone know how often we have sinned-- in wandering from Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in forgetting Your love. O Lord, have mercy on us. We are ashamed and sorry for everything in which we have displeased you. Teach us to hate our errors. Cleanse us from our secret faults, and forgive our sins for the sake of your dear Son. And O most holy and loving Father, help us, we ask You, to live in Your light and walk in Your ways, according to the commandments of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

*CONFESSION OF FAITH Heidelberg Catechism Question 1
Q: What is your only comfort in life and death?
A: That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with His precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for my salvation. Therefore, by His Holy Spirit He also assures me of eternal life and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for Him.

THE LAW OF GOD – The Sixth Commandment

CONFESSION OF SIN [Adapted from the Book of Common Worship]
Almighty God, You are rich in mercy to all those who call upon You. Hear us as we come to You humbly confessing our sins and transgressions, and imploring Your mercy and forgiveness. We have broken Your holy laws by our deeds and by our words, and by the sinful affections of our hearts. We confess before You our disobedience and ingratitude, our pride and willfulness; and all our failures and shortcomings toward You and toward our fellow men. Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; And by Your great goodness grant that we may hereafter serve and please You in newness of life; through the merit and mediation of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
