Psalm 118:24*CALL TO WORSHIP: Malachi 1:11
For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the
nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure
offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the LORD of
hosts.
*OPENING HYMN: (#1) All People That on Earth Do Dwell

into temptation. But deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the
power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

THE LAW OF GOD – The Eighth Commandment
CONFESSION OF SIN [Composed by PCA Minister, Rev. Jeffrey White]
Lord Jesus Christ, though being in very nature God, when You came to
redeem us You humbled Yourself and made Yourself nothing. Though You
were rich, for our sakes You became poor, so that through Your poverty we
might become rich. We confess how unlike You we are in our attitudes and
actions. We strive for recognition and acclaim from others, and we sulk and
become bitter if we do not get it. We look out for our own needs and
concerns, failing to care for others except for when it serves our own
purposes. Forgive us our sin and renew our hearts. Grant us to realize that
we only achieve greatness and gain our lives by giving them away. Work in
us by the power of Your Spirit so that we become more like You and so bring
glory to our Father in heaven. Amen.
DECLARATION OF PARDON [Isaiah 1:18]
Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like
scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

THE LAW OF GOD – The Seventh Commandment
CONFESSION OF SIN
[Based upon The Book of Common Worship, first order]
Most holy and merciful Father, we acknowledge and confess before You our
sinful nature, prone to evil and slow in good, and all our shortcomings and
offenses. You alone know how often we have sinned-- in wandering from
Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in forgetting Your love. O Lord, have mercy
on us. We are ashamed and sorry for everything in which we have
displeased you. Teach us to hate our errors. Cleanse us from our secret
faults, and forgive our sins for the sake of your dear Son. And O most holy
and loving Father, help us, we ask You, to live in Your light and walk in Your
ways, according to the commandments of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Q: What is your only comfort in life and death?
A: That I am not my own, but belong with body and soul, both in life and in
death, to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins with
His precious blood, and has set me free from all the power of the devil. He
also preserves me in such a way that without the will of my heavenly Father
not a hair can fall from my head; indeed, all things must work together for
my salvation. Therefore, by His Holy Spirit He also assures me of eternal life
and makes me heartily willing and ready from now on to live for Him.

CONFESSION OF SIN [Adapted from the Book of Common Worship]
Almighty God, You are rich in mercy to all those who call upon You. Hear us
as we come to You humbly confessing our sins and transgressions, and
imploring Your mercy and forgiveness. We have broken Your holy laws by
our deeds and by our words, and by the sinful affections of our hearts. We
confess before You our disobedience and ingratitude, our pride and
willfulness; and all our failures and shortcomings toward You and toward
our fellow men. Have mercy upon us, most merciful Father; And by Your
great goodness grant that we may hereafter serve and please You in
newness of life; through the merit and mediation of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of
all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of his
Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God,
begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all
things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from
heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was
made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered
and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures,
and ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and
he shall come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead; whose
kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds
from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is
worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one
holy catholic and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the
remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life
of the world to come. Amen.

THE LAW OF GOD – The Fifth Commandment
CONFESSION OF SIN [Based upon The Valley of Vision]
Eternal Father, You are good beyond all thought, but we are vile, wretched,
miserable, blind; Our lips are ready to confess, but our hearts are slow to
feel and our ways reluctant to amend. We bring our souls to you. Break
them, wound them, bend them, mold them. Unmask to us sin's deformity,
that we may hate it, abhor it, flee from it. Our abilities have been weapons
of revolt against you; as rebels we have misused our strength, and served
the foul adversary of your kingdom. Give us grace to bewail our senseless
folly; Grant us to know that the way of transgression is hard; that evil paths
are wretched paths; that to depart from you is to lose all good. We have
seen the purity and beauty of your perfect law, the happiness of those in
whose heart it reigns, the calm dignity of the walk to which it calls; yet daily
we violate and condemn its precepts. All these sins we mourn, lament, and
for them cry, "Pardon." Work in us more profound and abiding repentance;
Give us the fullness of a godly grief which is ever powerful, and ever
confident; Grant that our repentance will enable us to see more clearly the
brightness and glory of the cross of Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.
Amen.
